The area around Fort McPherson blows. But if savvy developers have their way they’ll convert the soon-to-be-closing base into something much cooler. For now, East Point continues to evolve as new shops and restaurants open their doors and smaller, gentrifier-friendly enclaves such as Jefferson and Center Parks prove there’s more to this community than an army base. With its proximity to downtown, East Point is becoming very popular among commute-weary working stiffs.
