While this working-class community has seen an upswing in rehabbed housing and unlikely new residents, it still remains skeevy by most Atlanta standards. The promise of the beltline that will someday run through this neighborhood’s core might be the shot in the arm Pittsburgh needs to propel it to full-on gentrification status. But, for urban pioneers who don’t mind the occasional home invasion, housing here is cheap, especially in the sketchier areas west of the connector.
