Barbican / City Road (South)
A no-man’s-land that’s neither Shoreditch, Angel, nor Clerkenwell, this area has been co-opted by the nu mee-djah crowd (spot Jefferson Hack cycling from the Dazed & Confused office). There’s culture to be had at the Barbican and LSO St Luke’s, and Turkish baths at Ironmonger Row. Food is fast and exceptional (Nusa and Warrin Thai), magnificent Whitecross Market has top-notch food stalls and there’s plenty a-coffee shop to keep resident caffeine-dependent office monkeys from rioting.
