San Francisco City College is the main player in this sleepy residential, working-class neighborhood. A collection of various high schools contributes to the demographic, which includes Balboa Park and the BART station. With I-280 and some large thoroughfares, Oceanview (which doesn't really have an ocean view) is a well-connected transit hub.
Most of the commerce lies along Mission Street. At the intersection with Geneva Avenue is the center of a San Francisco left alone and thriving. Along the K streetcar tracks on Ocean Avenue, small cafés attract foreign and local students from City College and hordes of kids from around the block.
