On the outer edges of Boerum Hill is Bedouin Tent, a restaurant/haven for those of us who live just beyond the bustle of the food scene on Smith and Court. It's honest, hearty, affordable Middle Eastern food with no fuss. Go for the mixed Mediterranean salad platter where you can choose from chubby dolmas, smooth hummus, tasty babaganoush, delicious fava bean salad, parsley-laden tabouleh, and others, all prepared with a lot of heart and excellent flavors; stay for the great vibe and totally mellow atmosphere. While the service isn’t exactly polished (or all that efficient, really), it is incredibly warm and hospitable. There’s wonderful falafel and hot pita made to order, a pizza menu, and addictive almond honey cake to top it all off. If there's outdoor seating, go for it--the serene garden makes everything taste that much better.
