Pilchuck Glass School Outside Seattle

The glass arts movement has gotten big, really big, but no where as big in the US as in Seattle, but outside of Seattle in a little town called Stanwood is the real core of glass art in the world. Pilchuck is the school where just starting glass artists to world famous ones go to teach, to learn and to demonstrate their skills from all over. You're nobody if you haven't been and you're going places if you have. The school always has a large list of great artists teaching students and always offers lots of opportunities and scholarships as well as making networking connections. On top of that the school is located in a tree farm and allows guests to escape into nature while perfecting their glass skills. I've been a student here and the time spent was worth a million to me. It is also a great location for art buyers/collectors to visit to find out who is the next big thing, to see their favorite artist working and to have a good time in general. The food is great, the nature is upstanding, the facilities are one of the best and you can't beat the kitchen staffs upbeat readiness to please and fill you up. If you go here, dress for the rainy season and bring a camera and an open mind! It is also advised students bring as many cigarettes and beers as possible for consumption and trade as they are valuable and hard to come by as well! Work hard and party hard is the unofficial motto here, as long as it is educational.
