The name's Foodery. And it does have food...sandwiches, chips, sodas, blah, blah. But it also has BEER! Lots and lots of it! In fact, half the place is filled with shelves and shelves of the beautiful stuff. They claim (and there is absolutely no reason for me to argue) they have 700+ different brands in their coolers. You can get your standards, even (God forbid) Bud, Coors Light...but you can also get Speak Easy, Spaten, Flying Fish, even HeBrew! You can also mix and match four and six packs, though it will likely cost you somewhere between $10 and $30 depending on how exotic the brand. The rarity and the cost increase from left to right, just to give you a heads up but you'll probably spend an hour just looking at the cool labels if you're someone like me. Grab a sandwich and a brew (but please, not Bud Light!)

The Foodery

If you ever consumed alcohol in Pennsylvania, this thought might’ve crossed your mind: “I’m so sick of committing to a whole case of beer! Who do I need to knife to get a six pack around here?” Good news: no one! The Foodery can fulfill your six-pack needs with a brilliant idea: create your own six-pack. That’s right; create your own. With over 200 beers, give or take, you only have to commit to one bottle of any type of beer, and you can get everything from Japanese sweet stout to drinks like Smirnoff Ice to hearty, high-percentage brews like Legacy’s Hedonism Ale. Plus: delicious sandwiches, gelato, and more. So, put the shiv away my friend, and head to the Foodery. You will not be disappointed. Unless you want O’Douls. They might not have that.

Comment: As a lad I was content with the simple beers in life, like a good old fashioned Yuengling. As I progressed in years, I found the joy of Smithwicks and Samuel Smith's winter ale. One day I moved to Philly, not 5 blocks from a wonderful place called "The Foodery." My days as a simple beer-liker were over. I discovered complex and wonderful adventures in beers like Hobgoblin, Goffel Kolsch, Warfteiner, Bass and Bells. As a beer drinker (perhaps even a connoisseur?), I now know the wonders and diversity of the vast world of domestic and imported beers and have the foodery to thank.

Comment: This place now has a second location! That's right, for all you Center City cats out there, The Foodery is now also located at 324 S. 10th Street, which is on the corner of 10th and Pine. Finally, a Foodery I can walk to. Enjoy!
