Not Too Shabby
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
It's tough to stand out in a neighborhood with such an abundance of cheap, outstanding Mexican food in combination with a multitude of places to find cheap, stiff and abundant cocktails. But Puerto Alegre on Valencia in the heart of the Mission features a combination of both, thus P.A.'s recent cult status and the line outside the door most nights. What awaits those inside who don't mind the wait (for those who actually remember some of my previous rants, I refuse to wait in line for anything, so I'm typically, conveniently late to happy hour) are jugs of cheap, stiff and delicious margaritas, and bare-bones, greasy, and often perfect Mexican food--again without busting your wallet. Viva la Mission!
