Considering the pathetic state of the penny, I doubt Mr. Franklin would appreciate being pelted thousands of times a day from tourists mindful of their karma. But, he probably would appreciate that his grave stone, tucked away on the corner of 5th and Arch Streets, is so widely recognized and sought-after. It’s a must-see for history connoisseurs and all those enviable souls who wish they had invented electricity. A mere two blocks away from his old hangout, Independence Hall, the stone slab is understated and low-key, a fitting tribute to perhaps the humblest of our founding fathers.
