Molly's Café & Bookstore (closed)
Molly’s Café and Bookstore is my new pleasure dome. The wooden bookshelves are like broken off maze bits in this small but adequate space. Right in the Italian Market, sun shines through the open door and carries with it a natural soundtrack of old world bartering and bantering that would make Jane Jacobs feel at home. And there it was—right there—the glory that is five copies of War and Peace with slim The Death of Ivan Ilyich tucked in between. Or if that’s not your speed, try religion, philosophy, art, children’s books, and more than a smidgen of cookbooks. Molly’s is the kind of bookstore that reminds you that you want to read—and unlike some used bookstores that suffer the anathema of romance fiction and Michael Crichton, the good book you want is available.
