Kelliann's Tavern
Don’t you just love a place that takes you by surprise? This little bar—a hole in the wall by anyone’s standards—will change your mind about bar food. Unless you’re looking for the standard greasy fare, don’t bother even looking at the regular menu. Stick with the specials that are listed separately on the paper that’s attached to the menu. It’s got things like grilled steak over baby greens with goat cheese and a balsamic reduction; a grilled chicken breast sandwich with fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers; and a creamy clam chowder with almost too many clams. Dinner time brings in the locals, while lunch is a mix of keep-to-themselves working-class joes, office workers, and PCC students. The service is amazing, considering there are times when one woman handles the bar and all the tables (about 10 in front and a couple in the dingy back room). Get past the corner-bar feel, and you’ll discover a funky little place with a great selection of imports on tap, good prices, and a happy vibe.
