Society Hill Playhouse
Oh, man, this crap isn’t funny. Not when you’re 43 and even the warm glow of the refrigerator light can throw you right into a full- fledged hot flash. (Um, or so I’m told). But, wait, this damn thing is getting rave reviews so maybe it is every bit the hoot it’s made out to be. Menopause the Musical is an uplifting examination of the life of Everywoman as she turns 50, and it celebrates the good without ignoring or sugar-coating the bad and the downright ugly. Aside from being a downright fun theater experience, MTM also has become a catalyst for sisterhood among aging baby boomers who all of a sudden are finding that their memories aren’t so good anymore, their sex drives aren’t what they used to be, and things that they used to be able to count on like clockwork—periods, for example—aren’t quite so regular.
