Trocadero
Hands down the most important group of artists in Philadelphia, Pig Iron Theatre company is known most for their experimental dance/clown/mask/music masterpieces. This year, they’re holding their annual fundraiser at the Trocadero, and it promises to be bursting with the kind of talent you think is on reserve at some neo-phonic-audioplastic secret Berlin basement, but is, in fact, right here in Philly. The fundraiser will feature, among much more, the Arcro-physicists of Green Chair Dance, the “curly musical stylings” of Amy Pickard, Gravity Defiance by Brian Osborne and Friends, Pig Iron’s own Dito van Reigersberg as Miss Martha Graham Cracker, and the wickedly small Sarah Doherty making Memory (yes, from CATS) cool again in a special way. Hosted by Quinn “Burlesque” Bauridiel, and with a post-show dance opportunity, the only reason not to go is that it’s at the Troc, and you don’t want to be mistaken for a suburban goth teen—but, for this, you’ll let it slide.
