Cavanaugh’s
No matter what your official nationality is, it’s that time of year where sporting a simple green tee shirt affords you honorary “Irish” status for a day and provides the perfect excuse to get blackout drunk before the sun sets. Yep, folks, that’s right. The annual Erin Express booze-fest is back. Whether you jump on the bus or have mercy on your kidneys and head for the hills is entirely up to you. The shuttles will be in business for three weekends this March and will loop around to include several of Philly’s finest watering holes. Pubs signed on for this year’s event are: Cavanaugh's (check their website for more information about this event), Blarney Stone, O’Hara’s Fish House, Bridgewater’s Pub, Mace's Crossing, The Green Room, Westy’s on 14th Street, T.A. Flannery's, Bonner's Irish Pub, Callahan’s, Mill Creek Tavern, Kelly Ann's Taverns (on 44th Street and on the corner of 16th and Spring Garden Streets), Smokey Joe’s, and Tom Hagens Tavern. Slap on your trusty “Kiss Me, I’m Irish!” pin and make it a holiday weekend that, celebrated appropriately, you’ll never remember.
