Caribou Café
I have this problem where I will go to restaurants and say, “Wow, that sandwich sounds good!” and when it is set in front of me, I discover that I have ordered a grilled cheese. Don’t get me wrong, I love a grilled cheese. It’s just not what I want all the time, especially when I’ve been tricked into it with the names of fancy cheeses, artisan breads, and worst of all, calling it a “panino.” Let me tell you about two fancy grilled cheeses of late, so you don’t make the same mistake I did (or, even better, so you order it on purpose and get yourself a really good grilled cheese). 1) The Grilled Fontina at Gigi. Okay, this is my fault for not knowing that fontina was a cheese. Still, something about the description made it seem to me that it was more than a grilled cheese. It was not. 2) The Croque-Monsieur at the Caribou Café. My boyfriend got this, and he knew what he was getting into…if he had actually been delivered the promised cheese-on-the-top croque sandwich. However, the Caribou Café made a croque-monsieur with ALL THE CHEESE INSIDE. Order carefully, friends.
