7th and Chestnut Street Mural
I usually don’t take a second glance at murals. They’re great for the city, they’re a great way to cover up empty (often disgusting) blank walls, and they’re certainly unique. But one viewing is enough. Da Vinci they are not. This one, however, is a little different. It’s the only tile mosaic mural in Center City. I don’t find the subject matter particularly interesting, but I do admire the patience and precision it took to place every single one of those tiles. I do wish I could figure out what the girl is holding in her hand, though. A golden ball of hope? A giant, pimply peach? A leaf from the future? I don’t know.
