In several other countries, tailoring services are used all the time. Moreover, they’re cheap. Unfortunately, we aren’t as lucky, and I had to be in a wedding, was on a two-week time schedule and didn’t want to pay the ridiculous dollars for a dash-and-hem at David’s Bridal. I certainly did not believe well enough in my sewing ability to deal with satin, so with no previous frame of reference or referral, I went to Fabric Row. April Moore, owner of House of Moore, was pumping church music and sewing in the back when I came in for my appointment, and had me in and out of there in a matter of minutes. She specializes in formal gowns (check out the gorgeous things in the window), and had the quickest turn around ever. “So you want this hemmed for tomorrow?” she asked, whereas David’s Bridal quipped, “You can make an appointment to come pick this up in 5 weeks.” Her price was also extremely affordable, so I officially recommend her for all your prom/med school formal/hot night out needs.
