Take it from a novice who can’t manage any of those pretzely positions: yoga is a beautiful thing. My personal yoga guru forced me into a class with her at the Yoga Loft in Center City, and now I am passing the whole “namaste” thing on to you. Although it has a lot of competition in the area, the Yoga Loft is the best place for a newbie. Worried about the price? The Beginner Special is 25 bucks for 5 classes (mind you—you’ve gotta use them up in three weeks). Worried the other people there are way better than you? There are classes for all skill levels and yoga styles. Worried about getting a mat? You can rent one for a dollar. Worried about going alone? Haven’t you heard it takes two to Ashtanga? Well, actually it doesn’t, but I just really wanted to say that. So when you leave, feeling all noodly and limber, smelling of lavender oils and sweat, pause the peace in your mind and think of me.
