The Manhattan Room
The New Year’s debate: do you see a show? Do you go to a dance party and freak out like you’ve finally made it to heaven, and heaven has a bar? How about…both? Sketch comedians Secret Pants have organized Manifest Destiny 2008, a delightfully schizophrenic New Year’s Eve experience for those of us who don’t want to choose just one activity for the evening. On the show side there’s comedy from the Pants themselves, Shabadelphia, and the ridiculous rappers Rowan and Hastings. On the music side there’s a DJ and musician Chris Casey, who the Pants claim is “so good, you’ll shit yourself.” Erhm, no thanks. Anyway: there’s also $2 Miller High Lifes, a free champagne toast at midnight, and “prizes.” For all I know, the prizes are face punches, but getting beat up on New Year’s would make a pretty good story. And if it happens before midnight, you can make a resolution not to get beat up anymore in 2008. So to recap: comedy, dancing, drinks, and possible face punches. Sounds pretty good to me.
