Silk City Diner
Silk City, Diner/Bar/Nightclub, is one of those cases where the sequel is as good or better than the first one. Long a mainstay of Philly hip, Silk City is now under management by the same (great) people who brought you North Third in Northern Liberties. They still get great bands and DJ Deejay on Saturdays. The crowd seems the same to me; which means, well, if you step outside for a smoke, you won’t lack for company. Don’t expect a regular dinner though; the menu is creative—eclectic American?—and the food is great. Also there’s a ton of liquor at this diner. The diner, formerly separated from the club, is now just one end of the club—or vice versa if you prefer; and at night the two ends are linked by pervasive red lighting. In any case, all this means that you won’t have to stop drinking if you get too hungry from dancing. So there ya go.
