Cantina Los Cabalitos
I'm no worshipper of Cantina, like so many South Philly folks I know. The food is quality, but when it comes down to Mexican restaurants I'm partial to the more authentic and less expensive. Not to say there isn't plenty to enjoy at Cantina: people-watching is a thriving sport and the platanos are always sweet. Plus I know a tangy bargain when I meet one. Allow me to introduce you to Cantina's happy hour, where a pitcher of margarita that's regularly $18 is yours for $10 from 3-6 pm. That's right. Although the deal applies only to the traditional margarita--which admittedly has a little too much mixer in comparison to its tequila content--you can always upgrade to Grand Marnier and all those special fixins. Unlimited chips and salsa too? Someone put this up on the "frugal fun alert," stat.
