Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant
Feeling a longing for the past, a need to feel young again, to play with your food? To that, we say go have some Ethiopian. One option for politely eating with your hands is Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant off Clairmont Road. Located in a somewhat dingy looking shopping center, Meskerem has a dusky but pleasant interior. For those unfamiliar with Ethiopian cuisine, the finger fun starts by ordering stews of veggies, beef, chicken, or beef, which are brought out to the table on a large, communal plate as big as a manhole. Using injera, thin Ethiopian bread that comes rolled up separately in their own side dishes, you scoop up bits of whatever looks tastiest. If you have room, make sure to tear off some pieces of the marinated bread that served as a buffer between food and serving tray for all your dishes. Be sure to order the Ethiopian beer, which is simply labeled 'Ethiopian Beer.' The official closing time is 11 pm. weeknights, though our server'd be fighting a lot of injera...

Café Bombay has several entrances, a huge catering business, and a wonderful lunch buffet. Located in the hinterlands of a dull Decatur strip mall, the café serves authentic and delectable Indian Cuisine, focusing on a wonderfully varied buffet during lunch hours. The quality of naan and tandoori are significantly higher than many other Atlanta restaurants serving Indian food. The only drawback to having the best Indian buffet in town is that the waiters assume you don’t want to bother with a menu—and, to be fair, why would they? A quick look convinced me that all my favorites had been prepared and displayed under the squeakyclean sneeze guards. Parking is not be a problem unless the place has been booked by a large group in advance. Don’t be disappointed by the lack of atmosphere; the untouristy secret of the café’s success is that they’ve made upscale meals on (although I hesitate to say it) fast food principles. While the business woman can power lunch in and out of the place within 23 comfortable minutes, a family can enjoy a relaxed afternoon without feeling rushed by the staff.
