Green's on Buford Highway is
everything that Green's on Ponce
is not. At Buford, you don't have to put up with a hundred hipsters knocking
your elbows while trying to access the IPAs and, more importantly, there's
always an available parking spot--even on Saturday evening when the entire
population of our god-fearing city curses its backward ways and makes a mad dash
to get beer before the clock strikes Sunday. What's more, Buford's stock (give
or take a few labels) is virtually the same as the Poncey-Highland hotspot,
even without the nifty Belgian-brew walk-in. A word of warning about shopping
Green's on Buford. The entrance/exit is freakishly dangerous, especially when
leaving the joint or if you are approaching from the north. Blink and you've
missed it, dilly-dally on your way out and you're likely to get pounded by
oncoming traffic.

Situated directly off 285 (Exit 32), this bowling alley is worth the drive. They’ve got great deals ($8 “all-you-can-bowl” 11 pm-2 am Mon and Wed; $10 cover w/ free pool/beer on Tue 6 pm to 10 pm) and I was surprised by how much stuff you can actually do there. International has a pool hall, an arcade with Dance Dance Revolution, bowling alleys, and karaoke. The karaoke is by far my favorite part of any trip out there. The karaoke systems are set up in rooms where a group of people can hang out and sing with their friends, without broadcasting a serenade to the entire complex. Considering I can’t carry a tune, this type of karaoke makes an ideal evening. The International is pretty much made to cater to short attention spans, with plenty of people-watching opportunities on the weekends, when the area becomes crowded with the masses too smart to waste their money at Dave ‘N Busters. There is snack food available; hot wings and fries, for instance, as well as ramen and fried rice. There is free parking and, since the beer is cheap and plentiful, designating a sober driver beforehand is an excellent idea.
