Bridgeport (West)
Nestled just north of the old stockyards, this area’s jumbo land parcels and warehouses ripe for conversion have spurred pockets of development. Most notable is tony Bridgeport Village, set smack–dab on a stretch of the Chicago River known as Bubbly Creek. The waterway got its name because animal carcasses dumped by the former stockyards turned it into a gaseous stew and, despite the pricey homes along its banks, the bubbles still linger.
